New Barn, New horses!

Last 4H meeting we went over new barn rules, new 4H program and new horses. If you haven't already, please sign up under the new 4H name Boots and Bells. log onto" target="_blank" rel="nofollow"> it will get you all set up. The horses we have for 4H currently is Promise, Honey, Red (Phillip), Pepper, and Wanda.

Most of you know that you have to take a written and skills test in order to pass a level. My level 1 riders need to learn parts of the horse, saddel and bridle to prepare for the level one test. Click here for for level 1 study guide. I am planning on taking the girls up to the Washington County 4H office on May 31st at noon. You are more than welcome to go up to the Washington County office on your free time. my level one riders are:

My level 2 riders need to know parts of the hoof, breeds, and colors. Click here for the level 2 study guide. For the skills test, that will need to master a W/T/C rail, figure eight, and circle. my level 2 riders are:

Emma V.

Note: If any of my level 2 riders want to show in districts and state, they need to pass level 2 before June 1st. Please let me know if you'd like to get your level 2 written and skills test done before then.

For the skills test, I will be testing my level 1 riders on April 24th. Please mark that in your calendar. If you are unable to attend, please let me know and I can level test them on their lesson day. Level 2 riders have to be tested by someone from the county office. I have scheduled someone to come out May 15th to pass you for level 2.

We did talk about Leasing out a horse for 4H. I am offering all the 4H horses for half lease at this time. What you gain by leasing is the opportunity to ride your leased horse 3 times a week, learning to care and responsibility for a horse, lessons are half priced, no horse rental fee for horse shows, and many more! It is $200 a month. Please come talke to me if you are interested in leasing. It is a wonderful opportunity for my horse crazed 4H girls! This is voluntary, but encouraged.

Open arena nights are great to practice on your 4H horse and riding skills. We will have them once a week from 6pm-7:30pm the first and third Monday's and the second and fourth Friday's. $15 dollars each night. If you lease out your horse it's free. These are not lessons, but free riding. I will be there with any questions/help if the girls need it. Again, this is voluntary, but encouraged.

Horse show are a ton of fun! We had a blast last year. My girls who have not yet shown but would like to, contact me for more information. The show circuit we go to is in Lincoln, Elkhorn, and sometimes Kansas City. This year we are showing western pleasure, hunter under saddle, halter, and saddleseat. Some of these shows require show clothes. Price to go to these shows vary on distance, price of the classes, and the amount of horses we take.

Volunteer Sundays. Any of my lesson/4H students are more than welcome to come out on Sundays between 2-6pm to help out at the barn. If any of you are interested, please let me know!

If there is any questions you have, please contact me. Next 4H meeting is Sunday the 10th @ 10:30.
